And I don't come from that but I get it too. So what if Nicki's rapping about American Idol and her perfume and the clothing line? The point still stands in the same way that it would if she was rapping about strippers, cars, and big houses. She's doing this era what every rapper does: bragging and in the process being somewhat of an inspiration. If you came from Southside Jamaica and heard Nicki rap about all the things she's achieved then even if you don't personally want to be an AI judge or have your own perfume, you can still be like "Damn, she came from this and went to THAT, I can do the same thing". It's no different than when any male rapper speaks on his big-ass chicks.
And on another note, most rappers do this all the time. Nicki has done it ONE era, with a few songs here and there in the past. If she's clearly returning to the more personal stuff then what difference does this "fun album" make?

Yeah I agree. I had no problems with The Re-Up at all because it was so better than Roman Reloaded. She still needs to improve for the next album though.

how is it cheesy when it doesn't even make sense? Like I claim to be a fan, but I really don't know what she was trying to say there.

It's talking about a person who hides from what they really are. When they look in the mirror all they see are lies.

yall lack education in meanings of lyrics. she is looking in the mirror asking her self what she is hiding from her SELF, what is she holding BACK.

They have to realize that Nicki is always going to get hate for the simple fact she's a girl. She's a girl doing BIGGER things than men. I hate to see Barbz feeding into the negative seeds that are sewn.
GO LISTEN TO SUCKA FREE AND PLAYTIME IS OVER
those will restore your faith in the Good Queen Nicki

Well first of all, why does everything have to be relatable? Just because you can't identify with what an artist is speaking about doesn't mean you can't appreciate it.
And anyway, how is what Nicki's rapped about this year not "inspiring" in the same way that having "fat stacks" and "foreign cars" is? In the same way that young men want to have all of that I can assure you there's young girls who want to live the high life that Nicki talks about. You don't literally have to want a Macy's perfume deal or an Idol judge spot to relate to what Nicki's saying; it's called wanting to live that kind of life. It's the exact same a big booty hoes and strippers everywhere.

I'm not talking about from a stan point of view, because stans love hearing their faves talk about their accomplishments. But stepping out of that, no one cares. About Idol. About perfume. About lipstick. About Ellen. About album sales. No one cares. Male or female, no one cares. That's the reason why Nicki's braggadocio isn't as popular as others—because it isn't relatable. That's all it comes down to. Back before Nicki had all of these specific accomplishments to talk about, people, male and female, could relate. And it was used. But again, no one but the stans cares about the majority of the things she brags about now and that's why it doesn't work. It comes off as wack.

Just listened to High School and I'm Legit back to back. And read comments on Youtube. Nicki has a really hard decision to make.

Hollister, please don't come for me. I can't help the fact that there isn't any continuity within the lyrics!
" Mirror, mirror, won't you realize?
I just have to decide
What you hiding from?
What you hiding from?
Hiding baby"
who the hell is she even referring to? how can you shift perspectives within ONE phrase?
she says "I just have to decide what you hiding from?"
then she switches over to
"Would you, would you
Give ya
Would you, would you
Give ya
Would you, would you
Give ya all for you"
girl BYE. Fly did a MUCH better job.

See even backing off from a stan POV, I wouldn't agree with that. Let's look at her latest songs, like I Am Your Leader, Beez In The Trap, and I'm Legit. Sure she namedrops some of those accomplishments in those tracks but it's not like they're called I'm The New AI Judge or I've Got a Macy's Perfume -- that would be wack. The fact is Nicki's banter is the same as any other rapper's; I'm the sh*t, a hundred motherf*ckers can't tell me nothing, you not a believer, suck a big duck. Throwing in her accomplishments instead of just saying "I've got stacks on stacks on stacks, I beez in the trap" may be a bit more "for stans" but it doesn't make it as unrelatable as you imply.
