So since The Return of The King was released back in the mid-2000s I've been dying for The Hobbit to be released. In fact when it was announced that there would be a third part a few weeks ago I went into fangirl overdrive.
Cue the masses of mediocre/negative reviews putting me on the edge and getting my hopes down as to the film being incredible. It was awful, and come my seeing it the day after its première in cinemas I sadly wasn't expecting much.
This was one of those times I couldn't have been happier to be wrong! The film was just too good I couldn't handle it! Come about 75% of the way through the movie and I started questioning whether or not I preferred this over The Lord of the Rings.
Luckily I think it was just spur-of-the-moment, but now I've realised that An Unexpected Journey is definitely much better than The Fellowship of the Ring and potentially The Two Towers as well.
I love this film so much and I've literally never been so excited for the second part/sequel of a film!
1a.
Brave
Admittedly this film never really caught my eye. I didn't see it until something like the last week of its showing and even then it was a little spontaneously, but I'd heard good things and Disney/Pixar have never really put out a bad film so I couldn't lose right?
It was so damn good! I never realised how much I loved it until it ended but I thought it was a fantastic film! So good that even the Scottish accents began to grow on me after a little while - had this been any other film that never would have happened.
I doubt this is Disney and Pixar's best collaboration, but the story was capturing, the scenery was beautiful and the creativity was off the hook! It was so funny and charming I don't see how anyone could dislike this animated wonder. If they do, it's most likely because there's a dominant heroin so they feel sexist and threatened.
Either way I love this film and it's my favourite Disney piece in a while, there's not a single thing wrong with it!
I'm now beginning the countdown of my Top 25 Songs of the Year (within reason). As mentioned in the OP, any songs are acceptable as long as their initial release (album or single) was in 2012, but the entries are limited to one per artist.
Don't mistake me for one of the numerous bandwagoners at the moment; this is the only song I've heard by Azealia (sans Liquorice, which I didn't like).
My sister was playing it a few months ago and I won't deny - it's an instant hook and ridiculously addictive. Azealia does make fantastic songs, she's just not my style (rap) so I doubt I'll be taking it further with her, despite having had 212 on replay constantly for a long time.
This was place at #21 earlier but I shuffled some songs around and added a couple extra songs so this got pushed off. Nonetheless it's a great song and a huge guilty pleasure of mine.
Honourable Mention
Flo Rida Wild Ones (ft. Sia)
Album: Wild Ones
Let me clarify: I don't like Flo Rida. He has a couple decent bops, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend that Sia wasn't everything in this song.
The song is pretty good, all because of Sia's slaying of the chorus. Had she never been in it the song would not have made my list at all.
Regardless, I still bop occasionally (even somewhat enjoying the awful verses) and I'm glad Sia was a part of it because it was like another Titanium (downgraded) and this song is easily better than She-Wolf which isn't that good at all (I've no idea what Guetta did that time, but he ****ed up ).
