But is it the Lord's fault people only focus on two out of the three key components of music? All critics care about is her production and lyrics, but does anyone care to pay attention to her tone of voice? The reason I Knew You Were Trouble is so epic in my eyes is because of how Taylor sings it. Yes, the lyrics are cheap, sans a few lines, and the dubstep breakdown isn't my favorite, but the way she sings the song and the blunt force of energy that comes from her voice makes me fall in love with the song over and over again. It's like in All Too Well. While the first part of the song is boring, Taylor's voice in the bridge and her soft whisper in the final verse delivers everything a music lover needs to hear. Yes, lyrics and production remain dominant because it's what the listener pays the most attention to, but the artist's tone and the passion of his/her voice also needs to be taken into account for how "great" a song is.
