So nop ... S&S could surpass BOMT in the US , but not WW
The closest thing to "BOMT" in sales was "Womanizer" which sold 6 or 6,5M singles WW

The discussion was the US, yes. Worldwide, of course impossible.

"Blackout" sold 290K in its first week and didn't reach the 1M in US by the time "Circus" was released.
and "Circus" oppened with +500K and it almost was 2x platinum in the US.
This is the same scenario once again ..... all her team needs to do is promote her 8 album as another "Comeback" album.

As for if Britney has the ability to push 500k+ first week again, yes she can. Her fanbase is rabid and she's still so charming, casual buyers would swing around too. Only in the Holidays, however. And with music that will push said buyers to purchase the album. B's fans are serious, it wouldn't be tough under the right circumstances.
Also I can guarantee FF did not sell 276k "because it came off Circus". 'Circus' era ended after December 2008, Britney's openings are entirely up to how they present the album's release.

The song's success is nevertheless keeping her HOT. "Gimme More," "Piece of Me," "Womanizer" and "Circus" (well the latter kind of bombed worldwide).. but the first three all have a Rhythmic lean to them (as does "Scream & Shout") and connected to the audiences globally. So I hope she see's that.
Most of you are just worried about what the **** ATRL members will have to say. So pathetic, who cares Queen is heading to 20 years of relevancy. Get over SYG.

It's not just about ATRL, although yes it would be embarrassing for us as a base.
Another reason I don't want it to outperform Womanizer and become her biggest single since ITZ is because of her TEAM. Can you imagine what it'll be on their minds if it smashes that hard worldwide? I can already see them putting Will as the executive producer of the album, I'm all for more urban sounds but just the possibility of that happening is
There were already rumours of that happening and I'm not here for S&S making it a reality.
Not here for an album full of BFBs and Scream and Shouts. No MA'AM!

she hasn't had a new album out for more than 2 years prior to FF, I think at that point success of Circus was not a big factor, it was all about the hype and people wanting new Britney music. not to mention 2010 she was pretty much MIA the whole year except few appearances and Glee, while 2012 we have her on X Factor.
At this point it's already been 1,5 years since FF and gonna be over two years for sure by the time new album comes out, and I think the hype will be as big as for the FF era.
FF was also generally more acclaimed than Circus, even though it wasnt as successful.
i believe with the right set-up and promo, she could pull 500k+ again

Circus was also her comeback album, of course it opened huge.
Obviously I'd love to be proven wrong but I just don't see it.

If I can recall you were the one who made that thread and only one who entertained the possibility.
will.i.am will not executive produce, or be any kind of overbearing presence on Britney's next album. Britney's team might be dusty, but they still have some smarts AS DOES Britney. She likes to change things up. He might have another track on the record, or maybe she'll even let him produce something but he'll fall into Sean Garrett/Darkchild territory and start getting axed.

Yes I know ... but I think her next album (given the circumstances of "Femme Fatale") should be a "Comeback" album.
I mean who says you can't have 2 comebacks in music?
Madonna had a comeback with "Ray of light" and then she had another comeback with "Confessions on a dancefloor"

tbh im gonna be disappointed if she doesnt get her way with this album. its about time she contributes and decides herself which direction she wants to go, so if that happens the success of S&S is going to be irrelevant (unless she herself decided to work with Will again, but I hope she knows better)
Im gonna be very disappointed if she comes up with another Circus/FF in terms of her own contribution on those albums.

exactly
pretty much any album coming out after an album that hasn't done well can be considered a 'comeback' album so i definitely want to see it promoted that way. people just love comebacks
and especially if she gets in very good shape like she is doing right now and shows more personality, i think people might fall in love with britney all over again and the whole nostalgia of the early 2000s might happen. at least thats the effect im hoping for, but yea doubt its gonna happen.

I just wish she was more present in the song so we could brag about its success more then I wouldn't mind if it outsold TTWE.
Her parts in S&S are cute but it's not enough for me.
I really wish she had sung the entire chorus by herself, I would like it a lot more.

I only entertained the possibility because it meant new Britney music but when it hit me that I could have an album full of BFB's on my hand any excitement I had vanished.

And I hope you're right about the last part.

i see, well complaining won't change the way the song is
anyway, i agree it would've been even more amazing if brit had at least a verse or something. oh well.
