Lyrics wise, SFTTR and WA and pretty evenly matched.
Vocal wise, it's kind of close too.
But production wise,....well Adele has her beat. But do Grammy's really pay that close of attention to production?

Do we have any idea what version Adele submitted? Is it her singing over the album instrumental, or acoustic, or a live band or...? If it's anything other than the first Wide Awakes production >>> Set Fire.


I agree though, people have gave up too soon. I'd say Kelly was more of a competition for the Grammy than Adele, Adele's was more of a left over buzz from last year nomination than a true potential winner. (See: Beyonce - Halo (live) a couple years back.)

I think Wide Awake would've stood a better chance against Stronger in SoTY, purely because Wide Awake has a unique sound (for Katy's standards anyway I think) while Stronger is the nth remake of the same song by Kelly. In Best Vocal Performance, I fear the committee will focus primarily on vocals in studio version and live performances and such, and that's where they will give Kelly the upper hand. Wide Awake really deserves this Grammy though out of that field.
