It was bound to happen. A person can't be diverse like that, trying to appeal to different crowds and still expect universal support. Not only that but overextending yourself CAN lead to sacrificing quality somewhere along those lines. It's inevitable. Even if the hip-hop was the best she's ever done, and the pop the best she'd ever done it would probably still lead here with people calling her a sellout and her failing to get recognition. Being eclectic confuses people because it messes with their ability to form expectations of you. As an artist you must be willing to face that. You can't have it both ways.

edit: She may need to focus on her craft first and let everything else fall into place. Let you work attract, don't create to appeal. That's why she was so well liked in the first place, she was doing her own thing and people loved it—they flocked it to.

I mean, I feel like we already knew this was going to happen, that she wasn't going to get nominated. I was already prepared for either not getting any noms, or getting a nom for Starships and having a laugh about it. None of the hater comments I'm seeing on Twitter are really affecting me because they're weak jokes. And then this whole mess with blocking the fan for saying the truth as well.
