Union J were in the recording studio this week, working on their X Factor winner’s single and it’s been reported that Simon Cowell has chosen a song by one of his pals for the lads to cover.
The track will be used as their debut single if the boyband win the show next week and will be released on the night of the 9th December, straight after the result of the X Factor final is revealed.
Union J, Christopher Maloney, James Arthur and Jahmene Douglas are all set to perform in this weekend’s semi final and three will go on to perform in Manchester’s MEN Arena next weekend, following one being eliminated Sunday’s results show.
It’s been claimed that once again, bosses have chosen different songs for every act and that they have all already laid down their vocals, in the hope that they will win next month.
It has been claimed that if they win, Union J’s single will be a cover of Demi Lovato’s Skyscraper, proving that the music mogul really does like to keep it in the X Factor family.
The Disney star is currently judging alongside him on The X Factor USA.
Cowell is said to be working on raising Lovato’s profile in Britain, after hiring her for his US panel earlier this year.
He won’t make a penny from the single though, as it was confirmed yesterday that the winner’s single this year will be in aid of charity, after the normal group record was cancelled last month.
The proceeds of this year’s winner’s single will be donated to the ‘Together For Short Lives.’
We totally understand why Cowell chose the children’s charity, as he is very much still a child himself in many ways and he tweeted yesterday saying:
“Watching mr poppers penguins again. I love this film. I really do want a pet penguin.”
