A lot of people on here take "sources" by journalists and will cite them all day. But they won't go back and find actual receipts from THAT time to back up their claim. Like I said, it's the same as people who claim "Elvis was the first rock and roll star" because many journalists are saying so, but if we go back and find receipts from those days, we know it's not true.

How are you gonna say "Mariah started the trend of big ballads and 'rococo melisma'" and cite ballads post-1990 that sound nothing like it, WHILE saying songs like GLOA couldn't have started the trend because they sound nothing like VOL? Makes no sense..

But how are you guys going to say Janet has more impact, when literally everything anybody knows about her was overshadowed by ONE negative event. It's like all her albums were completely erased from existence. Even when Mariah hit rock bottom with Glitter, her legacy still stood.

So you have gone from saying she "created" it to saying she brought it to Mainstream?. And no your wrong again, as stated earlier, she was the first PURE pop girl to do it. Michael And Janet were successful with it, so the mainstream thing doesn't cut either.
