The black girl on that talk show left me slightly perplexed.
She said she likes Korean pop and that it's amazing but she proceeds to name the groups big bang and 2ne1. Ok, well assuming she along with other American celebs who have mentioned Kpop are drawn to the genre and get into it because they think it's different, it doesn't make sense that the two groups with music most like American are being recognized. I guess it's because there's comfort in familiarity — it sounds like what's playing here on the radio so it's not too foreign, but the equivalent of what she said is like me saying Middle Eastern music is totally awesome but stanning a group from the Middle East with music that doesn't sound any different from what you'd hear American artists make.
Not Kpop related but this song is everything. The ABBA Generation by A*Teens is one of the best pop/dance albums ever. 13 years later and I still blast it.
