Anyone that thinks Liam is the leader

Leaders don't necessarily have to be the best singers. It's usually the face/ most popular or most representative member.

We all know Harry gets the most press, is seen the sex symbol (sorry Zayn but as much as we say all the press say its Harry), he was always the middle in most songs, talks quite a lot and has the most outgoing personality (sans Louis but thats his role).

No Harry does not sing the best

If you read my post, you'd see I said Liam on X Factor Days was seen as a leader because that was just a singing competition. Hence the best voice would take the main role. Tbh Zayn and Liam have better voices then Harry.

But like I have to keep telling you, best singers and main vocallist does not mean Leader. And IF we do go with your argument....who gets all the chorus...oh wait Harry does

To be honest, they all seem a tad young to "keep the group together".

Beyonce in DC, she didn't exactly "hold the group".
Geri in Spice Girls, she sort of "held the group".
CL in 2NE1, she doesn't exactly "hold the group", she's the second youngest.

In all these cases, and almost 99.999% of groups, the leader is the one that is most prominent in the fact of appeal. When media look at a group you'll see them talking to these people first, or they'll be the most talked about, most doing promotion or talking in interviews and people think of them first when referring to a group.

You're right but I haven't seen Harry doing the things you're saying. It's Niall who talks so much on the interviews and has the most followers , Louis or Zayn seems the most photographed or featured on gossip sites. Harry has always in the middle of these things, he gets the most spotlight in their songs and music videos.

Niall takes in US interviews - elsewhere I usually see Louis/Harry/Liam talk

Harry is photographed A LOT - and when they were first breaking into US the management even tried putting Harry infront. Every little thing is a story with Harry.

He definitely is talked the most and does the most promo out of 1D schedule in terms off awareness and getting the 1D brand out there. He's always at the parties, out with celebrities more then others. Rihanna fancies him (that was just a bonus lol), but UK newspaper keep comparing him with Mick Jagger, Lily Allen was overjoyed when she bumped into him.
