Well, actually she did. It was released to country radio and peaked at number 21 which is very, very good for a non-country artist. Bon Jovi had a country mix of a song hit #1 because of Jennifer Nettles being on it, but failed to crack the top 30 with a country mix of "You Want to Make a Memory" and barely hit the top 50 with a duet with LeAnn Rimes. And really, all of those were quite good

nevertheless WANEGBT is country or not, the chart run these past weeks show that the country audience is totally not here for it (even with radio deal). So does it hitting #1 country make sense?

As I said before...genre charts shouldn't just appeal to a specific group of people. it should appeal to everyone.

Isn't that what the Hot 100 is for? Shouldn't genre specific charts be...genre specific? How a song can reach #1 on the Country Songs chart based on Top 40 airplay and the subsequent digital sales, while it has entirely been dropped by country radio is astonishing.

Even the label has moved on to country single #2, if you can really call WANEGBT a country single in the first place...

yep i think they're right tho. But when we put that theory into reality, we should balance it out to make the chart look more accurate, like emphasing on airplay more than sales and streaming

Can we go to a conclusion that 70% airplay + 20% sales + 10% streaming is reasonable???

Why though? Isn't it a little bit rigid to say that only the country audience can pick what the most popular country song is? What if there was another song that was clearly country but was also pop and appealed to more people than just the country audience...wouldn't that make that song more popular?

The Country Song formula should be %80 Airplay (Country Only) + %10 Sales + %10 Streaming - Country airplay should always be more important over digital sales in a genre that doesn't sell much digitally.
