"Pure Imagination" is such a random interpolation, but it works really well. It gives the song a lovely innocence.
Right that's exactly why I love it. The sweetness mixed with Mariah's somewhat hoarse, restrained vocals makes a great contrast. And it's not a conventional sample either. Da Brat's verse is quite random though.

I don't think she's ever performed that epic ending live. It's always lipped. And shoddily done so too. You know, her covering her face with her hand, hair all in the way, turning her back to us, like she thinks she's slick.

It has an earnestness to it that resonates with me. I don't always feel that genuine emotion in her ballads.
If I had to make my own top ten, "I Still Believe/Pure Imagination" might be in there...
