She didn't say her material wouldn't be radio friendly, she just basically said it wouldn't be generic.

If you look at the pop charts, there are maybe 3-4 songs with dubstep influences. the rest is pop or electropop, or some kind of pop-alternative.

there's dubstep breaks in like every song right now. what are you talking about

TV: Still, you're a little young to be a mentor. What kind of advice are you going to give your team?
DL: There's so much more to it than just being a talented singer. I'm going to help them mentally prepare for everything that's coming—like, all these things that have happened to me recently, I really attribute them, in part, to the work that I've been doing on myself. The second that I became more centered and aware of who I am, my performances got better, and I was better able to relate to people. For a long time, I was pretending to be someone that I wasn't, and I was miserable. When I came out and said, "I'm human, I've got problems, but I'm willing to share them," that's when I started to really connect. I've just begun working on my fourth album, and I want to do that in my music too. I'm tired of songs that don't have much emotion in them.

so in this interview, she said she wants her songs to be emotional but also catchy... what more do we want from her? lol. this is like a perfect combo tbh

TV: The way you're talking suggests, like, an album of back-to-back ballads. Is that what you mean?
DL: No. I love the way that Adele has carved out a path for a singer that's very emotional, but I also love how Taylor Swift can do the same thing—she puts a lot into her songs yet they're still very catchy. I will say that I'm tired of all the dubstep that's on the radio right now—I think it's going to be out in two months. I want to make something that people will listen to for a while, rather than something that's just trendy. I feel like I've grown as a person, and I want my music to grow with me.
THANK GOD! OMG

Ugh I really hope she's not doing country. She doesn't have the type of voice for it. Miley is doing country pop and she is better fit for it think.

I mean after all her description still fit GYHAB right?
And with Taylor's WANEGBT is pretty much the same...

Not really
dubstep =/= dance...
I'm no dubstep expert but I don't think that there are more than 5 songs on the Top 40 chart right now who have dubstep in it.
However there have been some songs who combined it in the last 2 years but still not THAT many

As long as the single ain't some ballad or slow-tempo song and as long as it has some radio appeal i'm more than fine with this though!
I'm just not here for her wasting her radio support, she needs to make smart decisions now to get far in her career.

I thought you meant that Demi referred this to WANGBT
But I don't think it has emotion

No, but if she releases a ballad it'll be Skyscraper 2.0
And Adele is an exception, plus Taylor's single is catchy pop, so...

she didn't say it's gonna be a ballad. She said she likes how Taylor's songs have good and emotional lyrics in them and they're also catchy. which implies she's gonna do that. anyways, really excited for this era

yeah but Timmy posted it without the question so it seemed like she's either doing slow Adele-ish songs or goes country, and both ain't too healthy for her pop radio support
Edit :
oh btw :

I think Demi's getting them Grammies in 2014
well we'll see. But considering everything she's said about it so far, this could become her most critically acclaimed album
