Blaxploitative films are films that portray negative stereotypes of African-Americans. This genre was very popular in the 1970s. They have been criticized for obvious reasons.
How do you feel about these films? Have you ever seen one? Do you have a favorite? Are you against these kinds of films? Can you sit through one and enjoy it or would you be disgusted?
Do you think Blaxploitation films still exist?
I saw "Superfly" (1972). It was pretty damn boring, but the main character's hair was LAID and I just adored his whole
Pimp vibe. He
was a pimp.
And the soundtrack SHAT. Oh and Nichelle Nichols was just flawless in "Truck Turner" (1974).






Even after laughing after watching these movies, I still feel bad about how they perpetuate such negative ideas about Black people. Some impressionable kid could watch one of these and...

A lot of the actors said they regretted participating in these films years later.
