For those who don't know, Blaxploitative films are films that portray negative stereotypes of African-Americans. This genre was very popular in the 1970s. They have been criticized for obvious reasons.

How do you feel about these films? Have you ever seen one? Do you have a favorite? Are you against these kinds of films? Can you sit through one and enjoy it or would you be disgusted?

Do you think Blaxploitation films still exist?

I saw "Superfly" (1972). It was pretty damn boring, but the main character's hair was LAID and I just adored his whole Pimp vibe. He was a pimp.



And the soundtrack SHAT. Oh and Nichelle Nichols was just flawless in "Truck Turner" (1974).







Even after laughing after watching these movies, I still feel bad about how they perpetuate such negative ideas about Black people. Some impressionable kid could watch one of these and... A lot of the actors said they regretted participating in these films years later.

It's not really any different than Hip Hop Pimp's and Hoe's Sex and Violence it's all the same really. I loved some of them TBH Esp Foxy Brown and Coffee.

My parents said they were bad, but it was all black people had to watch (with black folk in). I've not seen many (if any) I'll have to have a watch.

I suspect they look much better in GIFs than actual 90 minute films.
