There is nothing good or notable about this number of units for any type of movie. She opened at #9 on the DVD chart and #7 on the Blu-Ray chart even though it's easier to open higher on the video market than it is at the box office (where she opened #8 in the US).

For further context, POM is at least in the Top 100 grossing films for the year in the US (#76 right now, though that'll get pushed down with new releases from the next three months) whereas this will be hard-pressed to make the Top 100 selling titles on DVD/Blu-Ray for 2012.

These figures are not comparable to album sales, and people need to be aware of that for context. Even Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3 sold more on DVD/Blu-Ray this week. To open at #9 and #7 on the respective charts is... not good.

You were actually one of the users arguing back and forth on how big of a disappointment Part of Me was at box office, and now want to argue that her DVD sales are terrible as well, even though it flopped in theaters? That doesn't add up. What type of sales were you expecting if the theater gross, according to you, were terrible?

I have no idea what logic you're trying to pull, but it flopped in theaters and in physical release. Adds up if you ask me.

The DVD sales aren't that bad for a movie that flopped though. You all expect too much from a concert documentary film.

The fact that it flopped in theaters doesn't make its DVD numbers suddenly good. What on earth? Yes, these low numbers on home video do not surprise me considering its box office performance, but that doesn't make them any better or something to be viewed as an accomplishment.
