The "shine bright like a diamond!" during the chorus also reminds me of "come and take a walk on the wild side, let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain" in 'Born to Die's chorus. Just the way it's a sung in a higher pitch than the rest of the chorus.

I know a lot of other songs use the same technique but 'Born to Die' is the song I thought of with that.

I love how classy and mature 'Diamonds' is. Yes, Rihanna is referencing drugs, but it's done in such a beautiful manner that was completely absent amongst the ratchet songs on Talk That Talk.

Her 'thug life' persona is evolving and I love it.

Such a beautiful song. Rihanna's songs are great in that you can have them on repeat the entire day--not many artists can create such music.
