Basically, this is how I feel:
The song is trash, and I'm mad.
Okay, that's not the whole story.
Nicki's verses are good, even though it's a BIT hard for me to tell, over the horrible productionwhich is the FIRST big issue with this song. Second big issue: Cassie. What is she even doing on this track? Her parts make no sense, nor are they catchy, so what is her purpose? Apparently this is her old demo that Nicki picked up and threw a few verses on it, and you can tell. Which brings me to the third point: the song is called "The Boys" but Nicki's verses has NOTHING to do with boys. And Pinkslam, don't even try it on that.
Honestly, it's not a horrible song. Her verses are great and it's probably a grower. However, I didn't even WANT a new single so soon. But I would have been okay with a new single, had it been that FIRE track we expected. After Girl On Fire and Mercy, my expectations were high. And "The Boys" fell short.
That's just how I feel. Still love Nicki. All that jazz. Just sayin'.
