VMAs this year is very borin. There's no Britney, Gaga, Beyonce, and even Justin Bieber.
Rihanna, Katy and 1D did bring a lot of the views but it wasn't enough last year we had more bigger stars, if this year Britney, Beyonce, GaGa and Justin would've attended the show would have had even more ratings plus the fact that they moved te date to a Thursday, it was meant to flop anyway.
I could understand why people might say Gaga or Britney bring in additional ratings, but where are people coming off on Beyonce bringing ratings?
The first year she performed, the VMAs decreased by over a million viewers.
2006, when she performed, had the lowest ratings of any VMA broadcast ever including this one.
That's not to say she's responsible for either of those faults. Certainly not, but no more than Rihanna or Taylor would be for this year's. Rihanna performed in 2007 and 2008 which both year's showed up an uptick in viewers. Not to say she was responsible for that either.
But in 2009, the other year Beyonce performed, it only did an uptick of 0.5 million on 2008. And if you accredit that to anyone other than Michael Jackson's death or maybe Gaga's debut then........lol
2011, sure she had a moment THERE on stage, but why would she be held responsible for the uptick in viewers overall? None of her other appearances earlier that year had drawn ratings gold nor did she have hits. Why is she considerably responsible for it, and not Gaga? Or how about Adele who had an unprecedented year? What about Britney, who always brings VMA ratings? What about Kanye/Jay-Z performance? Or even Katy Perry?
I'm not sold on Beyonce being a ratings draw. There's no factual evidence to support that she is.

Even Gaga stole half of the spotlight across continents. I wouldn't know that the VMA was on until i saw Gaga started tweeting. I thought the show was in a month time lmfao
I honestly don't think it's so much on the day tho.
There are really no big stars, besides Katy and Rihanna, to pump the views and ratings.
Even if they move it to Saturday or Sunday, the views will probably increase by 1 - 2 millions only.
