Just yesterday I was reading two big country blogs talk about Kelly's "Stand By Your Man" cover. The Boot and Taste of Country blogs have actually been blogging about all of Kelly's country covers. That would be cool if the fan picked country covers helped get her nominated (even if it was just a tiny, little push).
Here are some articles about Kelly's covers from country blogs:

Kelly Clarkson Sings 'Stand By Your Man' (WATCH)
"Sometimes it's hard to be a woman," Kelly Clarkson sang to her fans in Indianapolis, Ind., on Sunday night (Sept. 2). The pop powerhouse has been performing one cover song per night on her Stronger tour, per fan request, and one lucky Hoosier had her Tammy Wynette wish granted. Watch Kelly perform the country staple, "Stand By Your Man" below.
"I love that song ... it's awesome," she told the audience after belting out the hit. "I love country music, I grew up on it. But I will say, most of the old country is my favorite. I just love that it sounds so classic, it's just really cool, and it makes me feel like two-stepping. I love some Tammy Wynette."
This isn't the first country hit the Texas native has covered during this trek. Most recently, Trisha Yearwood's "Walkaway Joe" got the Kelly treatment. Here's hoping that fans in Independence, Mo., will pick a country tune for tomorrow's (Sept. 5) show, as well.

Kelly Clarkson Covers Tammy Wynette’s ‘Stand by Your Man’
Kelly Clarkson continues to rock country music covers at the request of her fans. Most recently, she put on a rendition of a true classic country tune. At a gig in Indianapolis on Sunday night (Sept. 2), Clarkson gave Tammy Wynette‘s ‘Stand by Your Man’ the special treatment.
In conjunction with her 2012 Stronger Tour, the pop princess (who has been dipping her toes in the country music waters lately) lets one lucky fan choose a song for her to cover at each performance. This time around, the fan had great taste and picked Wynette’s most well-known tune.
Not only did Clarkson pay homage to the icon by lending her powerhouse vocals to the classic song, but she had nothing but nice things to say about the legendary country singer — and classic country music — after the song ended.
“I love that song… It’s awesome,” she told the audience. “I love country music, I grew up on it. But I will say, most of the old country is my favorite. I just love that it sounds so classic, it’s just really cool, and it makes me feel like two-stepping. I love some Tammy Wynette.”
Clarkson has made it clear that she’s always been a big fan of country. During this tour alone, she has already covered Trisha Yearwood‘s ‘Walkaway Joe,’ Lee Ann Womack‘s ‘I Hope You Dance,’ and Dixie Chicks‘ ‘Wide Open Spaces.’ We can’t wait to see what she does next!

Kelly Clarkson Covers Dixie Chicks’ ‘Wide Open Spaces'
Kelly Clarkson might have gotten her start in pop music, but she’s inching closer and closer to taking over country, too. Last weekend, Clarkson showed that she’s worth her weight in gold as a crossover artist when she put on a rendition of Dixie Chicks‘ ‘Wide Open Spaces’ during a performance in Murphy, CA.
Before playing the classic country hit, Clarkson explained that each night, she and her manager pick a member of the audience and take a request from them. The chosen one can pick a song from any genre or era, and the ‘American Idol’ winner will play it. Over the weekend, one fan asked to hear ‘Wide Open Spaces.’
“Anybody like country music?” she called to her audience, who hooted and hollered.
“I do too!” Clarkson continued once the crowd quieted. “I’m Texan, so you kinda come out of the womb liking cowboys and Texas music.”
With just an acoustic guitar backing her powerhouse vocals, the fan favorite singer launched into the Chicks’ 1998 smash (with plenty of audience members chiming in to contribute to the song).
This isn’t the first time the Clarkson has turned entirely to country. In addition to releasing a twangy version of her hit song ‘Mr. Know It All,’ Clarkson is actually dating Brandon Blackstock–who just happens to be Reba McEntire‘s stepson and Blake Shelton‘s manager.
Should the pop princess decide that she’d like to take the plunge into country music 100 percent — rather than dip her toes in — we’re sure that country stars would welcome her with open arms. Both Jason Aldean and McEntire have gushed over Clarkson in the press recently.
“We always have a good time hanging backstage,” Aldean says about his ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay’ duet partner. The two singers teamed up for the smash hit last year, which spent multiple weeks at No. 1 and was named Single of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year at this year’s ACM ceremony.
“She’s like a little sister to me and fits in with our business team and our family terrifically,” adds McEntire, who has served as Clarkson’s singing partner in the past.
We’re not sure what’s next for Clarkson, but we know one thing: She has the pipes to become country’s next ‘it’ girl.

Kelly Clarkson Covers Trisha Yearwood’s ‘Walkaway Joe’
We’re not sure if Kelly Clarkson is trying to tease us by putting on smashing renditions of country classics, or if she just really loves the genre as much as we do. Clarkson once again proved that she has the chops to fully switch from pop music to country at will when she performed Trisha Yearwood‘s ‘Walkaway Joe’ this week.
“If I screw this song up, you have no idea,” Clarkson told the audience at the Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Ga. on Wednesday (Aug. 8 ) while nervously trying to introduce the song. “This woman is my favorite singer in the entire world. Her voice is like crystal, and I’m sweating so much. I’m gonna cover her song, and I can’t believe I’m gonna do it. Anybody like Trisha Yearwood here?”
As soon as the crowd learned that the ‘Mr. Know It All’ hitmaker was going to sing one of Yearwood’s songs, they screamed and shouted.
“I’m just saying, her voice is, like, straight from God. Mine was, like, bypassed by seven others,” Clarkson continued.
The former ‘Idol’ winner quickly proved that her voice is nothing to sneeze at, either — even if she doesn’t think it sounds like crystal. Her gorgeous delivery of ‘Walkaway Joe’ was the perfect way to showcase the range of her beautiful singing voice with a country tinge.
Clarkson’s latest foray into covering country classics comes just a few weeks after she put on ‘Wide Open Spaces‘ for an enthusiastic audience in Murphy, Calif. The notoriously pop singer is closely tied to the country music scene lately, having released a twangy version of her hit song ‘Mr. Know It All’ earlier this year. Oh, and the fact that she’s dating Reba McEntire‘s stepson. Clarkson’s beau, Brandon Blackstock, is also manager to Blake Shelton.
We don’t know if the talented singer will ever split her crossover cards to go country all the way, but we do know that she has what it takes to break into the scene.

This is just pure speculation on my part, but I think the odds are very high that Kelly is going to release another song to Country as a result of this CMA nomination. MKIA did better than most people expected with really no promo and it wouldn't have been a bad idea to release another song after that, but now is a golden opportunity. It could be a brand new Country recording or maybe another remix of a song on Stronger (TSWR, please!). I think the label would be EXTREMELY stupid not to try and capitalize on the publicity she is getting and will be getting leading up to the CMA's. She's also likely to get a performance slot on the show since she is nominated in one of the biggest categories. This is a really big opportunity for Kelly to have a Country smash and I REALLY hope RCA capitalizes on this!
Maybe that's what Kelly meant when she tweeted that she will earn this.

I'd really only be here for country Kelly if it is a side gorup project with Michelle Branch and Miranda Lambert tbh.
But it's clear if she took her solo career in that direction she would just dominate...

Nothing relevant, her engagement, the title of her new album *ARTOPOP/ROCK*, her performance of I Forgive You on the VMA's, a sneak peek of her new video...

I agree MJ! I wouldn't be surprised if she released another single to country radio. Maybe one of the 6 songs she was talking about is a country song or cover? Either way this is so exciting!! Especially since the CMA's are voted by the country industry. Like there were 2 rounds Kelly had to be voted for to get nominated
Next month Kelly will be featured on Blake's Christmas album. I'm almost positive Blake will have a tv Christmas special and Kelly will be on it. The song they sang is super Christian/Country. Come holiday season if Christian radio gives that some spins and KC can score a #1 in Christian... l!!!
It reminds me of when Kelly said something like, "I'm gonna be that annoying girl that shows up in every different genre. Just because I want to and I like it."

Sorry y'all. I was on a trolling kick. Reported 7 times today and only a reminder. KING!
Anyways, I will love it if she did perform a medley of MKIA and then busts into TSWR as either Miranda or Carrie walks out onto the stage. That would be beautiful.
Also, R&B, Hip/Hop and Christian charts are the only ones left where she's able to score a #1, right?
