There was more hate that came from the hip-hop heads on the Summerjam incident. Starships was a hit but because of it, the sell-out comments and all that stuff occurred and she lost some fans. When she deleted it because of her fans or whatever, she was getting bashed left and right everywhere. It was a mess. Stupid Hoe was a disaster (even though I love it) and the issue with the Grammys performance was that it came right after Whitney Houston's death and she went up there and (this is what a blog said): "talking in tongues, performing exorcisms, and making a plethora of faces" and not many people besides her fans understood it. While there were positives, they affected her greatly in the beginning. Let's not mention the low album sales in the beginning. She was being dragged all over for that.

Her album sales weren't that low though, she has one of the higher openings of the year. No one is selling that well right now.
Starships didn't even do that much damage with the urban crowd because they still use her urban tracks and features.
As many people who criticized her for Summer Jam, there were people who were behind her and praised her for standing up for herself.
Stupid Hoe was a mess, but most people are over it, as well as the Grammy's & her twitter meltdown.
When you take a step back from the ignorance of alot of ATRL, this era isn't that bad.
