They were really bothering me during the IASF era, then 2 years later they call her one of the Queens of Pop. I just think over the past few years she has cemented her icon status and they realize how important she. She got three VMA nominations for videos for songs that weren't exactly smash hits. She is more than just an iTunes/social media celebrity; they know she has a cultural icon that has a reputation for being a great performer that attracts ratings.

I think it's hard to really rate something when we've only seen low quality video .. With the crap quality we have seen I think it's easily one of her best.. That stage!!

The MTV News department, specifically.They wrote nearly 40 stories about Britney's Circus Tour, but only five about the I Am...Tour and when they did write about her, it was usually something shady somewhere in the story. Before the VMAs, They rarely put a Beyonce story on the front page except for this. But, after the 2009 VMAs, they seemed to be #TeamBeyonce.
