These are the songs that I believe may/will become singles in the PF:RR era.
I Am Your Leader
Champion
HOV Lane
Whip It
Marilyn Monroe
Fire Burns
Gun Shot
Va Va Voom
Now here's what I want/think should happen.
Instead of releasing "Champion" during the Summer, release I Am Your Leader alongside Pound The Alarm to dominate both Urban and Pop radio. I Am Your Leader would be perfect for the summer; plus, her lyrics are talking about "You wack hoes could get hot for one summer". Nuff' Said.
When the fall comes around, then send out Champion instead. Champion should be sent to all three formats. It has the potential to crossover and its time Nicki had more faith in her Urban singles and started pushing them more than her Pop ones. So during the Fall, Champion will become a crossover smash on all three formats. This will be the only single released during this time period.
Now this is where it starts to get complicated.
She said Marilyn Monroe will become a single...true...but at the same time, I have a feeling she's going to try and push Fire Burns as well. Both of these songs (more so on Fire Burns) have the potential to crossover on all three formats and have the potential to smash with the right promotion. Marilyn Monroe would become the single for the winter era and crossover on all three formats, or at least two. Fire Burns will remain an album only track.
Then spring gets here. Time to pick up some steam. I feel as though HOV Lane would smash during this time period, but at the same time, I feel as though Gun Shot could also become a single. Gunshot has a more "spring-summer" feel as does HOV Lane. And I have the strangest feeling Gun Shot wouldn't do well on Pop radio, but more so on Urban. And then you have Whip It. I feel as though this is more of a summer song, but you'll see why its here in the next paragraph. Release HOV Lane to Urban and send Whip It to Pop and Rhythmic. I don't know...what do you guys think?
Now that summer is here, the last potential single could be Va Va Voom. I feel as though Va Va Voom could become a crossover smash (ala Super Bass) and dominate the summer. This is just how I feel. Let Va Va Voom do its work during the summer. After this, end era.
Then after words during the fall, take a break, plan out her next album and era, get to writing. Release a promotional single or two and then release the lead-single off the next album mid-october. Let it dominate until the Album release (November 2013, preferably Black Friday) to rack in those sales and score another number one album.
This is what I think should happen. Anyone have something different?
Edit: Or...send Va Va Voom out during the spring season on all three formats and let it dominate, and during the summer, release HOV Lane/Whip It to their respectful areas. Which one sounds better?
