Discussion: Can you be "too old" for ATRL?

In the past I've seen users in their 30's+ criticised and attacked for being "too old" to be on ATRL. I don't really get this mentality. It's not like this is some club penguin fan club or something, it's a music forum first and foremost, and I believe one can never be too old to listen to pop music or discuss their favourite artists and albums. I don't see how an adult spending time on this forum is any different from an adult spending time on other forums or social networks, especially if it's in moderation and isn't negatively affecting their personal lives.

What do you guys think? Discuss.

No, I don't think anyone can be too old for ATRL. That's like saying someone is too old for Instagram or Facebook, which is stupid

If you're 30+ and on here just for the music and to engage in discussion that's fine but if you're 30+ sitting up on here going back and forth with younger people and teenagers over your fave and "throwing shade" and "dragging" and being petty then yes, you're going through a mid-life crisis

Yes and no. It depends. I mean its not a good look I guess but at the end of the day lets not pretend like 90% of the bitchy forum queens that are our age arent going to still be bitchy forum queens when our generation hits 30. Do you think our gen is going to stop our social media addiction as we get older? We're just going to take it with us.

This. It's not one sided.

If you want to come at an adult then come correct.

I think the seasoned members just need to be smart enough to shade with class and integrity.

I rarely see the 25+ posters getting banned and reckless.

I think people are fooling themselves if they think not being a teen means that you can't debate with someone.

I think if you are attacking and getting banned over and over again then you need to re-evaluate why you can't control your emotions with underaged posters.

It's fun to use wisdom, experience and success as your foundation.
They try to come for me without credentials or a resume and I just shade with class and remain a constant at 0 wps.

This shouldn't be a "too old" argument more than a "too unstable/dramatic/outrageous" argument because some people take social media WAY too seriously. threatening to do harm to someone because you don't like their favorite artist.

the argument that you are too old to debate on an entertainment forum is so silly, though.

It's just as easy to wonder how high schoolers or kids of college age (I'm not saying everyone is in college) are not spending their most critical, formative years in young adulthood experiencing more real life.

the argument can be used that this is an escape for those kids that don't want to deal with life.

It cuts both ways but I don't think there should be judgment on either side.

Now, if this were a Disney or Nickolodeon forum then perhaps that would be odd.

You have to have a mix of the youngin's and their dramatics with wisdom/integrity/critical thinking and experience.

That's how you learn different perspectives.

I can't think of any posters over 25 that are constantly getting banned or anything but I would think anyone over 25 should know better than to fall into the traps over a forum.

I'm just glad that I'm successful because if I were working in Mcdonalds and living at home with my parents at my age, I probably would be getting banned left and right.
Success and confidence breeds excellence and critical thinking which means when you are doing well you remain on your throne.

You don't let entertainment get too personal because it's never that deep.
