please mods STOP closing threads with sensitive topics. This is a pop culture forum and this petition IS going viral so we deserve to discuss this. What's the point of monitoring a forum if you're so scared of heated conversations and decide to mute everyone whenever there is a thread for some juicy debate. Just warn or remove those unnecessary comments.

I mean, Prince did insist that tributes for him involve a majority of black artists during his life time. So... the fact that there isn't a single one in Billboards is more than side eye worthy.

Madonna and Prince dated and remained great friends up to his death. I honestly do not think he would have been offended with this, at all.

He probably hated Billboard, though, so he wouldn't be happy with the idea overall.

Madonna is literally the antithesis of Prince.

Prince and Madonna were friends and collaborated several times so I think people are blowing the Madonna aspect out of proportion but they are probably right that he'd probably want a black artist tributing him.

There's literally always complaints over tribute performers, though. I think Madonna is neither the best choice, nor the worst choice. At least she knew him and worked with him before.

No she was not. Back in the 80's it was always Team MJ/Janet or Team Madonna/Prince. Prince is not just about the music. I feel like a lot of these "fans" complaining are not even genuine fans and don't get Prince's artistry AT ALL. and most of you are not getting the point of this thread. It's not about whether M is the appropriate choice, it's about whether Billboard is whitewashing the music industry with this.
