DAVAO CITY—Leading presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday morning hit the media for sensationalism and for being biased.

During his interview at the late-night show of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Duterte cited the importance of truthful reporting and lamented how some media units picked-up “garbage” news thrown at him without verifying.

“It was really wrong for them to adapt, it’s not even a yellow journalism, it’s [garbage]. They could have checked, they could have checked. That is the moral responsibility of publishers of newspapers. You have to check. Do not print garbage that are given to you for the sake of sensationalism,” Duterte said.

He also hit a television network for supposedly slanting its news against him and even allowing the airing of a negative television ad against him.

“I don’t know why they have to do it na ganun (that way). They would not complete your story, ‘pag ganun (if it’s like that), i-cut tapos yung ipalabas [di kumpleto], di naman niya sabihin na I was relating to something (they cut it and they released it incompletely, they don’t even say whether I was relating to something),” Duterte said.

“They might pretend to take the moral stand but they don’t,” he added.

The tough-talking mayor said some media groups “pretend to be the moral torch of the country.”

Except ABS-CBN is the largest and most trusted tv network/news organization in the Philippines. It cannot be the Philippine counterpart of FOX News since FOX News is right-wing conservative and ABS-CBN is more of centre-left liberal. If anything Duterte is the Donald Trump of the Philippines since both have fascist appeal and anti-establishment personæ.

Monday’s presidential vote was the 11th election that the Duterte has fought, and the 11th that he has won. The adoration that greets him in Davao is palpable.

The Philippines knows what it is getting. With Trump, America is looking at the unknown.

They deserve it. I watch abs shows more than gma, but gma's news and current affairs program are miles better.

It's also unknown what the Philippines will be like under Duterte's presidency. It's unknown if we will be a dictatorship again, or a communist or if he will sell us to China. He has no clear plans or comprehensible policies for the country that he mentioned during his campaign. Most of his supporters just trust and agree with anything he says.

Credibility in news belongs to GMA 7. It's really embarrassing that from the second most credible news casting station they went down to #3.

They are an embarrassment and THIS shows that social media isn't crazy about this when our next president calls them out. Hilarious.

Duterte is not the Donald Trump of the Philippines and we have TIME to back our **** up.

And comparing Duterte to Donald Trump is actually an understatement since the latter is yet to kill anyone. Duterte is more of a Robert Mugabe or a Hugo Chavez.
