The base of the series isn't that outdated they just need to fix up the controls a bit and modernize the level design. I wouldn't mind some updated changes to the gameplay long as it satisfies both modern gamers and fans of the old games.
If he's truly coming back they need to have the announcement hosted by a Dr Cortex hologram like in 2.
