Meat is so often associated, pretty daftly, with masculinity - something most of us know to be quite sensitive in a number of straight people (though of course, not all). Additionally, anyone from an oppressed group, I believe, has more of a tendency to reach out and empathise with the plight of others, such as animals and the humans affected by gross climate change resulting from animal agriculture. We also know veganism makes it possible for someone to live by their healthiest diet and producing incredible bodies - something the gays tend to care about.
