I think her advocacy for mental health is admirable and if she wants to talk about her own experiences, it would definitely bring about more awareness to those issues.

But a part of me wishes it was someone else.

She obviously means the death of some members of her family.

Her father, her grandpa and her uncle died in the last 3 years (and Buddy last year too ).

Well if it is dark I'm here for it. Her music became too damn bubblegum after "Give Your Heart a Break" so this can be a nice change.

She always says this tho and then she goes and makes something generic again.

I mean, I love her to death but it's true.

Give me more Cool for the Summer, GYHAB and such and I'll be fine. The last three era's she's teased as not being concerned about radio hits and then in retrospect she always says they were about chasing hits so hopefully she sticks to her word this time.

Sure Jan. She always says this yet no one panders to radio like she does. Does anyone give iheart radio as much attention as she does? Lol

She has been through a lot of death in the last year so I understand some of her lyrics are going to be influenced by this.

But she's not stupid and her life has also good moments so the album is going to have some bops. I hope.

Also, if she really cared about radio hits that much as she did in the DEMI era she would have released KC and Old Ways instead of Confident and Stone Cold and you all know it.
Of course she care about them (as I said before, she's not that stupid), but not that as much as she used to before.

Something generic =/= bad.

Cool for the Summer is generic and still one of the best pop songs of last year.
