So with the elections afoot, lot of people are talking about worst case scenarios. Today, Lena Dunham said that if Trump gets elected, she's moving to Canada. Similar to how many Republicans vowed to move to Canada if Obama got elected.
Question though: Why not Mexico? Why does everyone threaten to move to Canada, but not to Mexico? Especially Dunham, who lives in LA, and is closer to Mexico, and dislikes Trump because he wants to build a wall?
Probably because the reason so many Mexicans move here (thus Trump not wanting them here) is to seek a better life than their home country? Their conditions aren't great.
I'm guessing it's because Canada has a more steady economy, and it's also where English is an official language so the Americans probably think they would not be that different from the US to adapt.

Is Lena Dunham really worrying about the job market in Mexico tho?
Because all Americans are xenophobes, clearly, and would never consider living amongst those DIRRRTY Mexicans with their funny Mexican language when they could live with their friendly Canadian brothers.
What kind of answer do you want? Immigrants are coming from Mexico for the same reasons anyone else wouldn't be rushing to live there. On the other hand, Canada is doing better than the US in some aspects and it's more similar to the US in culture, especially the language...
i'm trying to figure out your ulterior motive with this thread since the answer is so blatantly obvious. same language and similar culture.. that's all it takes.
but anyway mexico city is one of my favorite places in the world, i would rather move there than canada.
