When you get the seal of approval from Madonna, that's a pretty big deal, right? Pia Mia, an on-the-rise singer and Instagirl, was just hand-picked to be the first-ever fashion director for Material Girl, the legendary pop star's juniors line. "Her creativity, confidence and unique sense of style make her a perfect addition to the brand," said Madonna in an official statement.
Pia Mia joins the ranks of Zendaya, Sofia Richie, Rita Ora, Georgia May Jagger and more, who all served as the young faces — with a music-meets-fashion bent — for the Macy's exclusive label. Her newly appointed role, however, comes with a few more responsibilities than previous spokesmodels. In addition to starring in global marketing campaigns, which Pia Mia has already collaborated on and shot for fall 2016, the songstress will make public appearances at Macy's locations and provide creative consulting on the brand's spring 2017 collection.
And what's a newly minted fashion gig without some #content? Material Girl will also partner with StyleHaul, an online video network for fashion and beauty influencers, on a series that's inspired by Madonna's "Truth or Dare" documentary from 1991. Each video will showcase Pia Mia and the brand's latest collection, which will be promoted across social media.
