How would you react? Would you cut all ties with your friend or try to talk to them?

I'm very close to this girl and I don't think I can stop being her friend after all we've been through. But I want her to know I'm absolutely not okay with this. Despite beating her boyfriend yesterday she's still my friend and I sadly think it's more complicated than me just cutting her off. I just think when I talk to her again I need to get to the bottom of this and let her know I have 0 tolerance but offer help etc. Help to control her emotions that is. I definitely couldn't stay silent or try to enable it in any way.

Mine is kind of the opposite my best friend is dating someone (we all worked together but now we all have separate jobs) and he abuses her. He hits her, breaks her stuff and it gets to the point where I'm just so upset over the situation that it's hard for me to see her or talk to her. I keep telling her over and over to leave him but she won't. Good thing he's moving back to Norway in a week or two. She's my best friend

That's the kinda person you need to cut out of your life, no matter how hard it because you will always have to deal with it, abusers don't stop abusing ppl till they leave or they're dead.

I would be too afraid to confront them about it but I'd either slowly cut off the friendship and not tell them why, or if I was genuinely concerned for their partner's safety, do something like leave an anonymous note to people they know so they can be aware and get them help. it's a really sensitive subject and there's no easy way to deal with it

zero tolerance tbh.. if my friend were abusing someone i'd feel responsible to shut it down straight away.. if someone just sits back and lets it happen they're not a good person at all imo,

your friend's partner could be going through hell and all they need is 1 person to stand up for them, please don't be 1 of those people who let their friends get away with ****** things on the basis that y'all have history

cutting off the friendship isn't gonna do much, they'll carry on abusing their partner. you need to step in.

yep. few years ago i had a good friend, who one day got a girlfriend. naturally, we all became friends with her. long story short he ends up being an abusive asshole. so we encouraged her to break up with him, cut ties with him, and remained friends with her we didn't want to be friends with a person like that.

If one of my friends did this i wouldn't turn my back on them, but i'd definitely let them know what i think about their actions. You should do the same

I think people who say it's none of their business, or it's too sensitive of a subject are just being selfish and weak. These are live human beings in these situations. There is a person on the receiving end of horrible violence regardless of whether it's your friend being hurt, or your friend doing the hurting. It is deplorable to wash your hands because you don't want to rock the boat

In my honest opinion I think more people should call out their friends if they're being ****.

Just because you're my friend doesn't mean you're absolved of your actions even if it's not towards me.

I really don't know what's going through ppls minds when they see someone being ABUSED and just think "it's none of my business" like.. you could be the only one who can help them. it's no exaggeration that that person could end up dead or at least permanently scarred because you turned your back on them

My best friend used to be abusive with his girlfriend. Punched her, called her names I told him to stop but he wouldn't. His girlfriend used to come to talk to me how she was tired of his behaviour but insisted to stay together because she loved him too much. I just distanced myself with them since the two created the mess for themselves. They broke up not long after that.

If i see him doing it i will beat him up and save his girlfriend.
If i see her doing it I will push her away from my friend.

Either way I know I will side with the victim and try and help them. I would also cut the abuser out of my life even if it's my friend. I have no tolerance for a male or female friend who abuses their partner.

I couldn't be friends with people like that. Psycho tbh. The thought of abusing someone you're in a relationship with is absolutely disgusting and you shouldn't be in a relationship at all because clearly you're not ready for one.

Surely by not saying or doing anything you're just enabling the situation? If you know there's abuse in a relationship you almost automatically become responsible for speaking up and trying to put a stop to it. The whole "none of my business" attitude is extremely damaging and puts the safety of both the guy and the girl in the relationship at risk.

You need to confront your friend, and if nothing changes you have to break it off. **** that.

Usually there are deeper issues that fuel those types of relatonships like deep insecurity, fear of being alone, etc. and I feel for those people, but at the same time most intelligent, self-respecting individuals wouldnt even find themselves in that situation to begin with
