Is trap the worst music genre of all time?
In my opinion, most of trap music feels so lifeless. They have no melody nor music substance or interesting concepts. I'm not arguing about tracks experimenting with the so-called trap but the stampede of pseudo rappers who don't know how to rhyme over supposed-to-be edgy cruncy dark beats. Again, I'm not here to point out trap-influenced tracks like M.I.A's Borders but Panda, Turn Down For What, 2-Chainz or MikeWillMadeIt solo works, etc
There's no need for hate, it's my opinion and it's based on determined arguments, especially lyrics-wise
Examples
2 Chainz - Smell Like Money
***** ***** dont keep it real no more
Drug dealers changed but the high stay the same
Prices go up but the high stay the same
Gotta watch for undercovers like crying in the rain
Cheap rhyme, cheap flow
Nicki Minaj feat 2 Chainz - Beez In The Trap`
Bitches ain't ****, and they ain't sayin' nothin'
A hundred mother****ers can't tell me nothin'
I beez in the trap, bee, beez in the trap
I beez in the trap, bee, beez in the trap
*no explanation required*
An spanish example. Trap has spread like a disease and it feels like a mind-control drug for mid class white boys who think they are procurers
PXXR GVNG - Tu coņo es mi droga (Your ***** Is My Drug)
Tu coņo es mi droga... Tu coņo es mi droga. Tengo baking soda. vamo a cocinar to eso mama. vamo a hacer dollar. me tiene jukiao (impossible to translate)
What's the point of all these lyrics? They aren't creative or fun or eloquent or revolutionary. Unlike many pop songs who feel empty, most trap mainstream music isn't even entertaining. It's like music made for 3-year old brain post-teenagers
