The point is that the family paid $40k, just like the family of the Dora voice actress, and their daughter got expelled for vaping flavored water provided to her by the voice actress. That means the voice actress is guilty of smuggling paraphernalia in to school, possessing it on school grounds AND using it, but her three crimes only got her three days of suspension whereas the other student got expelled for only one of those crimes.
The parents are absolutely right.
