I worked as a waitress at Hooters in LA for like a month and quit before moving to CT,
regardless LA is amazing and you will love it.

You need a car to get anywhere around here

choosing a neighborhood that's close to school/work and near the places you want to hang out at is super important because getting anywhere more than 20 minutes away can be a huge pain. you also need to plan commutes well because certain highways, if you leave at 4:50 you're good and if you leave at 5 you'll be in traffic for 2 hours. weather is pretty much perfect. people are really into outdoorsy activities, but low effort ones, like hiking at runyon as opposed to full blown camping and such. definitely a focus on healthy living/eating, which is good. a lot of the city also feels very suburban and built outwrds instead of upwards so it's not a "city city" the way a city like nyc is. you get long stretches of residential houses and then randomly a highrise, which gives it a unique vibe.

I hate it there. It was traffic non stop. aggressive ass drivers, horrible parking when all you wanna do it go eat out. Bums everywhere asking for money and following you making inappropriate remarks. Its cute if you just wanna go to the mall or visit china town. But live there, hell no.
