Celeb News: Cheryl confirms X Factor exit

The Girls Aloud star joined The X Factor in 2008. During her time on the show, she mentored two singers to victory - Alexandra Burke in 2008 and Joe McElderry in 2009. She left the show in 2010 before rejoining in 2014.

The singer met with Simon Cowell recently to inform him of her decision. She said: “I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor. I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I’ve missed making music and am excited to be recording again.

“I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon who I love to bits. I hope the show continues to produce stars and I wish them all the best.”

Simon noted: "Cheryl and myself spoke about this. I totally understand her commitment to making more records. She has been amazing on the show and in the near future we will be working on other things together.”

Nicole will come back. I find it ironic that despite Cheryl being somewhat of a "face" of The X Factor, the series with Nicole pulled in better ratings. What can you do.

Simon, Sharon, Nicole and Louis, or even just Simon, Louis and either Sharon or Nicole will make for a good panel.

I seriously doubt Nicole is coming back to the show. She's got a lot of things on her plate this year. And I don't think she's that keen on working with Simon on the panel again. One of the reasons she was such a great judge and mentor is because Simon wasn't sitting next to her, picking on her and bullying her non stop. She was able to be herself and people embraced her. Simon would just mock the things she says

Sounds like a boring panel it would be way too old looking needs younger people at least one or two. 2 grannies,Simon and Nicole doesn't sound fresh/exciting. if Nicole and Louise were to come back (I hope Sharon doesn't)

I hope Simon gets Tulisa or a younger popstar. Nicole/Cheryl haven't been the reason why show has been getting bad or good ratings lately its the show itself. People are tired of it since its always the same thing and they haven't had exciting contestants in years(maybe one of two per season).

Also her last three eras have been interrupted by something so I hope this means she'll fully commit this time. She needs to promote her name alone will not sell her music anymore and the streaming era is here...no delayed releases anymore.

2012- A million lights cut short by the GA reunion
2014- Only Human- Cut short by XF/did not promote too invested in the show.

So no excuse this time I expect her to WERK.

Last season had horrible ratings because the UK is slowly bored of X Factor. (Tbh, I use the word horrible but ratings in general are declining and people expect far too much from X Factor's ratings now). 2008-2010 with Cheryl pulled in bigger ratings than the seasons with Nicole.
