Timberlake was slapped with a lawsuit Thursday by Cirque du Soleil Canada over his song “Don’t Hold the Wall.” In the lawsuit, filed in federal court in New York, the company claims that the song from Timberlake’s 2013 album “The 20/20 Experience,” infringes on the composition “Steel Dream,” from the 1997 Cirque du Soleil album “Quidam.”
The song’s co-authors — Timbaland, James Fauntleroy and J-Roc — are also named in the suit, as are Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music – Z Tunes and WB Music Corp.
Alleging copyright infringement, the suit seeks damages “of no less than $400,000.”
