It's actually more of a representation of their own star power and talent rather than his influence. If you have to depend on a ****** label to do everything for you (produce, write, compose, etc) then you are bound to flop. You can take a not-so-successful label and make it work if you have the talent/skills to, like Taylor Swift did with Big Machine. She mostly wrote all of her music by herself and with just a bit of help and was very hands on with producing. If all you have to offer is a pretty face, why is about to invest all their money into you?
