I personally feel Star Trek: Voyager is very under rated but was the best Star Trek series and had the best captain, crew and the best starship design, Seven of Nine is my favorite!
With a new Star Trek movie coming out on July 22nd and a new tv series debuting on CBS in January 2017 are you a fan of Star Trek? What's your favorite Star Trek movie or TV series? Characters, etc
Yes. My dad was a massive fan so when I was younger we would watch Voyager together. I loved the Doctor and it was so sad to me that he was just a hologram and not an actual person. Star Trek 2009 is one of my favorite movies but I feel like Into Darkness was a bit of a letdown. JJ Abrams is so flip floppy with how his movies turn out. Spock is my all time fave character tho
theres a new Star Trek movie coming out? i thought the franchise had been iced after the controversy of Into Darkness. mess at me not even knowing about this
HeLLLLLLLL Yes, and I'm a hardcore Voyager fan (check the sig), even though I will acknowledge that DS9 is the best written of the shows!
No, I'm not excited about the movie, but I am thrilled about the new tv show!
My fave characters are Admiral Janeway, Captain Chakotay (Yes, it's Admiral and Captain now in the Voyager books that I faithfully read), Tuvok (who's no longer on Voyager. He's chief tactical officer on Titan), Harry (who finally made lieutenant and is filling Tuvok's old job) , the Doctor, Seven . . . basically the Voyager cast. Plus Garak, Kira Nerys, Sisko, Doctor Bashir . . . most of the DS9 cast!
But it is, tho. DS9 was a complete departure from normal Trek and was a little slow, but it was definitely the darkest, most thought provoking, deepest show of all the Trek TV series.

Yes a new movie and a new series it's a bit upsetting that the movies have very little to do with the storyline of the tv series it's like 2 different storylines despite the same characters
My boyfriend is a huge Trekkie (I'm the Star Wars geek) so we take turns watching the movies and the TV shows from both series. I've seen all the movies and have been watching TNG and DS9. I liked what I watched of Voyager but my boyfriend HATES that show with a passion. My favorite movies were The Search for Spock and The Voyage Home.

I disagree about thought provoking and deepest that goes to Voyager because it had a more natural feeling because it's about being lost in deep space and it dealt with different types of life forms such as bacterial and artificial intelligence, also dealt with black holes and the Planets they found were very interesting I remember one being a water world, and the digital effects were top notch for it being a 90's series

Voyager's a bit of the black sheep of Trek. The show had its problems. Nelix wasn't the most likeable character.

People had a million and one gripes about Janeway, but F**k them. I loved the show!

To me, DS9 was a lot more real. It was extremely political, in the way the other shows couldn't be. The other Trek series were about exploration. DS9 was about geo-political tensions in one sector of space. DS9 covered the aftermath of one war (Bajoran occupation) and the onslaught of another (Dominion War). I think the reason why DS9 wasn't as popular as the other shows was because it was so grim, and I don't even think Roddenbery would have approved of it because I don't think he ever wanted the Trek universe to be caught up in large scale wars. Episodes like "The Siege of AR-558" where Nog got his leg blown off, like a real war vet, and the episodes where Worf and Garak were POW's in the Jem Hadar prison camp were the realest. You had espionage, genocide, ethical quadries that Voyager and TNG weren't touching. It was just really different than the other series and that much bolder because of it.

Neelix was indeed a flaw on the series along with the other female who was able to see into the future I'm glad her character was killed off, in all honesty Voyager became better during the last stages of season 4 when Seven on Nine was introduced she made the show for the remaining 3 seasons a delight to watch because the storyline revolved around her

Yeah, I Ioved it when Seven and Janeway got into it. "Prey" is the one episode where the two of them were really butting heads. I like the rapport between Seven and the Doctor, especially in "Someone to Watch Over Me," where Seven decides to go on a date. The Doctor was another great character. I loved "Author, Author" where he wrote the seedy holonovel and had to fight the court battle for ownership over his work.
You should watch "Improbable Cause" and "the Die is Cast" on DS9 to appreciate the mystery/espionage writing on DS9. Both, Season 3, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm definitely gonna give it another chance and watch those episodes, I recently started to get into "Next Generation" I like it but the visuals and graphic sometimes turn me off
