Obsession

Quentin Coldwater, a grad student at Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, has been fascinated by the magical fantasy world since he was young. But as he has gotten older, Quentin and his 20-something friends have discovered that the magical world they read about as children is not only real, but poses dangers to humanity. While studying at the secret upstate New York school, the friends struggle to cope with the aftermath of a catastrophe that befalls the institution. The fantasy series is based on a series of novels by Lev Grossman.

A 13-episode series order was placed in May 2015. On February 8, 2016, the series was renewed for a second season consisting of 13 episodes which is set to air in 2017.

It's so good tbh. They're kinda shoehorning Julia's plotline and Quentin's plotline from the books into the show a little too simultaneously IMO but I'm still slayed.

Oops I thought I made a thread for this but I guess not! I have such mixed feelings about this show. I go between liking it and then struggling to finish an episode. It tries too hard, then is lazy and doesn't even try at all. it tries to be too sexy and hardcore, but the stakes haven't really been established because they have so many different threads going on at the same time that most of them hardly get touched on each week.
Q and Penny are such unlikable characters, Julia gets **** on week after week, Alice is quirky, Eliot hardly serves a purpose other than comic relief, and Margo is hardly ever on or given anything to do. So it's kinda hard to really root for anyone.
That said, I'm glad it was renewed. Hopefully it'll be more focused.

The season finale really ****ed my **** up and usually I have the stomach for gruesome scenes, but Julia's whole god scene was just the worst.

I couldn't understand this comment when I first read this afternoon (I hadn't watched the episode yet) but holy ****, I agree. That scene with Julia just made me feel so teary and emotional yet angry at the same time. Like, can the girl just not catch a damn break?

Holy ****. And the last 2 minutes left me completely speechless. Is this going to be picked up for a new season? I need to know what's going to happen with everyone

This show is so ******! !! I can't believe I wasted my time! Especially Quentin! ! My God he's so annoying and whinning and have that punchable derp face!! Julia's storyline with marina was more interesting than that nonsense with fillory and the beast!
And Alice's character is so unbelievable like yeah let's get a hot blond pretty girl to play a socially awkward bookworm but remember to dress her how like a bimbo to accentuate her massive boobs! Lol the show is a ****ing joke!
All the characters are so annoying and unlikable especially Quentin,Alice and penny!!
I have two more episodes I'm not sure I even want to finish it 😤
