on the original album title "Unhinged":
"I was making the record, came to a point where I felt like I was nearly finished, and I went and played it for Jay-Z, who is now partners with my manager Phil McIntyre, so I played him the record and you know, I had a title picked out, that I thought worked which is one of the tracks on the album called "Unhinged", and he was like "Listen, after hearing the record and as I'm getting to know you more and more I feel like that doesn't quite embody the whole body of work", so tell me about this year in your life and what it was like, and I was like "last year was complicated", and he was like "that's it".
on heartbreak and second single "Chainsaw":
"I would say this, it's never black and white, so there were stages to everything."
"there's the end of a chapter, which is always tough, and then there's the excitement about being free, being your own person, going on that journey, and there's a really important song on this record called "Chainsaw", which I'm hoping would be the second single."
"to me, it is about walking through the house that I went to a lot with my ex in Mammoth, California, and re-living a lot of the relationship, and the couch reminded me of her, and the plates, everything is like a thing, you know? and I think that's something a lot of people can relate to"
