Do you feel like everything of CMM was seriously intended for big commercial sucess or just a song to have fun?

Initially, it was supposed to be a fun song (it was released in September 2011 in Canada, where it became a hit). Then Bieber tweeted about it and it went viral.

It's not like she worked with Max Martin or some hit producer on the song, I'm sure the song's huge success was completely unexpected

Yup. That whole EP was written with just a few nobodies in Canada and was only released domestically at first.

The song wasn't even initially planned as the lead single from the EP. Its success was just a very happy surprise.
