It seems that our parents (and adults in general) are always lost when it comes to new music and with what's in. Us ATRLers are always in the know, but will you keep up with the music in 5 years? 10 years? When you're 40?
I'll try but even lately I find it hard to keep up with all these new releases I was so on point last year with every single album and song that was released.
I'm already struggling and I'm 20
I noticed when a bunch of songs randomly started popping up in the top 20 on iTunes like 7 Years, My House, Stressed Out and I was like wtf. Then again they didn't just "pop up" I just wasn't aware

This I even have a list and a damn folder full of albums/discographies I haven't listened to yet Like they've been there for a couple of years or something already collecting e-dust
Keeping up with new music and knowing 'what's in' is one thing.
Listening to music is another thing.
This obsession with sales, charts, and stan culture is mostly on ATRL or other music blog sphere. Like Theus above indicated, not even all ATRLers fall into the first category. Some music fans just like to listen to whatever they want without caring about the current trend and the marketing of music. I think this obsession is mostly popular among teenagers or young adults. As you grow older, you start to realise the pointlessness of it all and just turn to an old 90s record to accompany you on a lazy Sunday evening.
