National Union of Students (NUS), a leading confederation of over 600 students' unions in the UK - concluded that gay men "do not face oppression as gay men within the LGBT+ community."
Typically, LGBT societies at universities have dedicated reps for lesbians, trans people, bi people and gay men.
NUS passed a motion appealing to LGBT+ societies all over the country to drop their gay men’s representatives because they aren't as oppressed as other LGBT individuals.
“Misogyny, transphobia, racism and biphobia are often present in LGBT+ societies. This is unfortunately more likely to occur when the society is dominated by white cis gay men.”
“Gay men do not face oppression as gay men within the LGBT+ community and do not need a reserved place on society committees.”

Like I get we're the most "privileged" of the community, but one would think in that case solving the problems the others face would be more important than pointing at us like "you can't have real problems".
Isn't the NUS famous for being a complete mess anyway? UK gays are probably better off them.
It is and literally no one cares about the Student Unions in their own universities nor the National Student Union. It's just a breeding ground for bored/angry people.

The moment a community stops suffering (kinda sorta, in the western world), we immediately start to tear one another apart. Wasn't there a (flop) petition to get the T removed from LGBT in the US a few months ago? And then you have bi-erasure, racism, ageism and **** shaming within the community as well... Mess
