Half Afghan - half American Grace Tandon, professionally known as Daya (pronounced dey-uh), is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is signed to ArtBeatz and Z-Entertainment, and released her self-titled debut EP, Daya, on September 4, 2015, which includes the song "Hide Away", which has peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Imo, her voice is such a cutting edge in pop music, despite the cheap production in her singles. The forefront of focus on her songs is her unique tone which is a standout! Theres something about her voice that I find it endearing. What do you think of her and her voice?
She has a nice voice. She's the type whose songs are all bops but I'd never be a proper fan because I don't know if she's different or interesting enough for me, but I'll see.
I need to check out her other songs....I like it in the chorus of Hideaway, but I don't like it at all in the verses. It's like the epitome of the ~indie/tumblr girl~ voice
lot of these newer indie styled artists do this thing with their voice where they stretch the way the syllables are pronounced or something, Daya included, and I don't really like it. It sounds a little forced to me.
