Ariana Grande says if it were a man in Kesha's position, this wouldn't be happening.
Grande is making the rounds this morning to promote her newly-released single "Dangerous Woman." During a new interview with Carson Daly for The Daly Download, Kesha came up and Grande came to her defense.
“I love Kesha," Grande said. "I worked with her when I was a lot younger. We’ve been friends, I support her, regardless of what’s going on. I didn’t know about a lot of this, at the time I was really young. We didn’t discuss any of this. The incredible double standards that we [women] face on a daily basis, in the industry and just in the world, it’s shocking. I would be so amused, and pardon me if this comes across as sexist, but I don’t think a male artist would be in this position right now. Sorry.”
We'd like to address Grande's statement she'd be "so amused" if a male artist was in the same position as Kesha right now and assume she spoke before thinking.
They asked Grande if she was worried about being so open with her support of Kesha.
"If I’m speaking out about something I’m passionate about," she continued, "I’m willing to take the brunt for fighting for what I believe in. And my fellow women are definitely something that I will always be one of the first to speak up about."
Ehhh Ari, you know males who accuses rape on someone would be in a much much harder ordeal than a woman. A woman gets sympathy, a man would be seen as a joke or seen as gay or weak etc. .
Did she mean what she did, but not what Kesha face? Like perhaps she was saying she would be amused if a male artist is speaking up for Kesha like her? Idk.
How is the Kesha situation sexist? Do they want the court to find Luke guilty despite there being no evidence?
Is she trying to say feminism = being able to accuse someone of a crime and having them spend 10 years in jail despite there was no evidence?
I love and support Kesha, but you cannot expect someone to win a court case which has zero evidence on your side just because it's feminism. The harsh and upsetting reality is that there isn't a lot of proof for a lot of rape cases. You cannot take somebody's side just because they're a woman - there are a lot of cases where the 'victim' was lying about being raped.
