That family belongs to one of the different branches of Mormonism that appeared ages ago. They aren't ofiliated with the current Mormon church, which has since banned polygamy.

Ohhhh ok I see. Well if that's the case, then the church should do something about that show because a lot of people think Mormonism and polygamy are very synonymous.
But anyway. They believe some pretty cool things. Like how Hell is transient (which makes SO much more sense than that "burn and suffer forever" mess other Christian groups believe"); heaven is several different "kingdoms" to which people are assigned based on how good they were here on Earth; and humans, being offspring of God, have the potential to become Gods themselves if they're good enough.

Lol, I know quite a few Mormons, and they always kinda laugh when people ask about polygamy because it's such a misconception about their faith.
I've seen two guys that were obviously trying to talk people into mormonism on the bus. They were creepy as hell trying to start conversations with people
Overall I don't have an opinion on it. People should be able to believe in anything they want as long as they don't interfere in other people's lives or limit their freedom
I grew up Mormon. There's a lot of problems with the religion, and it's caused some problems in my family as we've gotten older and me and one of my brothers have fallen away, but at the same time it's helped keep our family close and given my parents a sense of community and purpose and I appreciate it for that. Members of the church will believe ANYTHING their leaders say which I've always found to be problematic but I don't think it's that bad as a religion. It was just really hard to be accepted and break away from.
