True, but at least the rules are more defined and contestants know what they're getting themselves into when they apply. Before the change, it practically would've been a free writing camp.

I read about that contract the other day and thought it was preposterous.

Adam is a songwriter himself, so why would he allow the show to completely take ownership of other people's creative works?

Totally lost respect for him just now.
