Why is it so bad for artist to release an album every year or two years?

I never got why people would get mad or say it like it was a bad thing.

Because it only applies to some artists..

I'd rather wait a bit longer for new material so they've had more time to perfect it than have the new music coming off a conveyor belt and it being substandard

Because people get sick of them.

Oh please. You guys know nothing about the creative spark and process. 12 songs do not take you 5 years to come up with. And it's all about the right moment, and time. The perfect combination put together with the right emotions will not and cannot be compared to something you did years ago. It's a whole different ball game. If you want an album to showcase you changing sounds and recording styles/lyrics, then record it over time. If you want an album with SONGS and MESSAGES... it doesn't matter HOW LONG IT TOOK TO MAKE.

Well it's actually a good idea to release an album early if the previous one flops.

Throwing an album together because your last one underperformed is not creative spark and process.

An artist has their entire life to gain experiences and work on their first album. To expect to be able to replicate something of the same standard by the next year is unrealistic which is the reason why so many second albums don't live up to their predecessors.
And it's my opinion so stop acting like a belligerent little child just because it isn't the same as yours.

exactly. rihanna is a different place in her career and she wants to show that through new music. some of you haters wish your faves would do the same...but the DON'T. Rihanna has already said in interviews that she prefers when she is working.

I heard beyonce recorded one of her albums in 2 weeks or something of that nature.

1st. You should ask for this to be moved to the Lounge, because this isn't Celeb news.

2nd. Some people think that artist who release albums every year are trying to milk their fame while they can. And that makes them look desperate. But when people are 4+ years they sometimes become irrelevant. Except for a few like Sade. So its really dependent on the artist when it comes to success of the album.

But to answer the question people will think that they are trying to rush and milking their fame before their 15 minutes are up.

Okay, but everyone has different life experiences. So how do you know she hasn't gotten the creative spark and life intuitions to create a dozen more material in a day?

This sounds great in a perfect world, but most of the time it isn't the case. There is a balance between waiting too long to release a new album, and rushing it out. Christina waited something like 4 years to release a new album, and it backfired on her. Consumers did not find her music "perfected" and the sales showed this. Avril is looking at a similar situation. No shade to them as artists, but just because an artist waits years before they do a new album doesn't mean that the album will actually be good.

The true tea is hard to swallow. Some of them can't drink!

Like Kirill said, if your previous album flopped, I think it's a pretty good idea.
