Rihanna loves nothing more than a challenge, and with her latest project, she’s set to raise the bar on her shoe game quite literally. The superstar announced today that she would be collaborating with the king of heels himself, Manolo Blahnik, on a collection due to hit Manolo stores on May 5. The Fenty x Puma creative director is hardly a stranger to the legendary Spaniard’s designs, and has a penchant for his barely there sandal known as the Chaos.
The new shoes will bring the best of her counter intuitive style instincts to the fore, and give the classic Manolo look a little street attitude. “Denim,” said Rihanna of her fabric choice. “The first three are heels, [and] one is really exclusive. We only made 45 pairs because they’re really expensive to make.” The exclusive design in question happens to be a thigh-high denim boot with a Western-inspired crystal trim, the kind of sexy tomboy footwear that is right in step with her wardrobe.
