We should not drag Katy for not speaking about #FreeKesha
Honestly I found it troubling that people were being ruthless to Katy.
Every woman has their own story, their own private life etc..we cannot be so quick to judge her for not speaking out when she could be dealing or have dealt with something similar in her past for all we know.
To crucify a woman for her silence in regards to sexual abuse is like forcing her to do what you want her to do. By doing this we are once again controlling what little freedom women are awarded in this patriarchal society.
A proper example of this would be a feminism course uni professor speaking about her experience with rape. She said that her silence was her strength. She felt pressured to go through the rape kit, go through telling her story in the local media etc...but when she chose not to she was almost made out to be some sort of villain...she said that every rape victim goes through their own healing process differently and that her silence was supposed to be respected instead of being hated.. because to her, not speaking about it was her taking back control over her thoughts and body. She was not ruled by someone else. She made her own decision not to speak and it helped her.
Do I agree with this approach?..not really because it seems pretty selfish..however we must understand that everyone goes through life differently and for all we know Katy could be going through her own struggles.
katy is not a rape victim so the story is irrelevant
but, we don't know for sure that luke is guilty it seems likely but not 100% so I can understand why katy wouldn't be so quick as to call somebody who used to be her close collaborator a rapist.
